“Can we stop for a minute?” Dee asked, halfway up the steep slope.
Ryo, walking up the narrow track ahead of him, paused and looked back over his shoulder, laughing. “Getting out of breath, are you? I thought you said you were fit!”
“I’m as fit as you are, babe,” Dee replied. “And I’m not outta breath, I just don’t see why we haveta rush. I thought we came out here to enjoy the scenery.”
“We did. The view from the top is amazing.!
“Yeah? Well, how about the view from here?” Dee had paused at a gap in the trees and now he pointed downwards to where a rushing river tumbled over rocks, sending up sprays of water that sparkled like jewels in the sunlight.
“Oh!” Ryo gasped, surprised. “It’s beautiful!”
“You seriously didn’t notice?” It was Dee’s turn to laugh. “Think of all the amazin’ sights you’re missin’, all because you’re in such a rush to reach this lookout point of yours. Slow down and relax. The view you wanna show me isn’t goin’ anywhere, it can wait a bit.”
“You’re right, sometimes I get my mind so set on something I forget to just enjoy the moment.”
