BtVS Double Drabble: Just A Stick

A/N: Double drabble.
It’s really just a stick, a sharpened piece of wood, and yet it spells death for vampires. Buffy wields her pocketknife with an ease borne of experience, making sure to get a good point, something that will slice easily through clothing, going right for the heart. It gives her something to do while sitting here, waiting for the dead to rise. A Slayer can never have too many stakes.
She glances at the grave and sighs; there’s still no sign of movement. This one is taking his sweet time. There are other things she could be doing: dancing at the bronze, painting her nails with that cute pearlescent nail polish she just spent the last of this week’s allowance on, or studying for tomorrow’s chemistry test, but here she is waiting on a lazy vamp. Was he this slow when he was still human?
A couple more sweeps with her knife blade and the stake is ready, just in time. The carefully laid turf over the new grave is shifting as the vampire begins to force his way out of his coffin, clawing his way to the surface.
Buffy’s ready and waiting; his unlife is going to be disappointingly short.
