A/N: Double drabble.
Dee was okay with following orders; it was part of the job. He did what he was told, investigated the cases he was assigned, worked with cops other than his partner when he had to without complaining, unless it was JJ, and generally followed the chain of command. Some people might consider him a loose cannon, a rule breaker, even a renegade, but it wasn’t true. Did he skate close to the edge at times? Sure, but he never crossed the line. He prided himself on his honesty and integrity, not just as an officer of the law but as a man.
But having that rat bastard Berkeley Rose ordering him around rubbed him the wrong way. He didn’t like the guy, didn’t trust him an inch, and he knew the feeling was mutual. Rose was just waiting for the chance to discredit him, bust him back down to uniform, maybe even kick him right off the force, but no way was Dee gonna give him the satisfaction.
So when Rose issued orders, Dee followed them to the letter, made damn sure his superior couldn’t cite him for insubordination or anything else. Rose was playing a game he’d never win.
