Summary: Dee is feeling sorry for himself after suffering yet another work-related injury.

A/N: Double drabble.
No one ever said being a cop wasn’t dangerous. Sure, a few were lucky enough to get through their entire careers in law enforcement without ever having to so much as draw their gun outside of the firing range, but they were the exception.
Danger was a given in his profession, an occupational hazard, and Dee had already known when he entered the police academy that he could expect to have criminals shoot at him, try to stab him, and turn every kind of improvised weapon on him from baseball bats to broken bottles. By the time he made detective, he’d seen all that and more. What he hadn’t expected was the sheer number of broken bones he’d need treatment for.
The skull fracture had been the worst; he’d spent several days with no memory of the last few years of his life. The broken leg was a close second, because it had meant weeks of crutches and desk work. He’d also broken his wrist, forearm, ribs, nose, and tailbone, all while on the job. And now this.
He looked woefully at his left hand. “I can’t believe I broke my frickin’ thumb!”
All because some asshole had tripped him.
