A/N: Double drabble.
The other night, lugging an unconscious Weevil back to the SUV, Jack had made an off-hand comment that nobody ever bought him flowers these days. They’d been passing a florist’s shop at the time, so Ianto hadn’t considered it strange; Jack often made random comments, and at least this one had some context. He’d shrugged, and replied, “Well, it’s not like you buy me flowers, is it? Not since our first date, and you sat on those.”
Jack had chuckled. “Not my finest moment, was it?”
“Oh, I don’t know; as first dates go, it was certainly memorable.” Then they’d concentrated on their burden, and Ianto had forgotten the conversation until he was running a few errands and happened to pass another florist’s. This one was open, so he nipped in and bought a bunch of carnations, nothing too big or overdone, before heading back to the Hub.
Making his way up to Jack’s office, the flowers hidden behind his back, he smiled at his lover.
“Ianto!” Jack beamed back at him. “I’ve got something for you.” Looking proud of himself, Jack produced a bunch of daffodils.
Ianto laughed, handing over the carnations. “Looks like we had the same idea!”
