“You were lucky,” Owen said, tossing his bloodstained latex gloves into the rubbish. His aim was atrocious.
Ianto watched as one glove stuck to the rim, blood dripping onto the tiles, and the other slid down the outside of the bin, leaving behind a trail of sticky red smears before dropping to the floor. He sighed; with his luck, he’d be the one who had to clean that up.
“Not feelin’ especially lucky right now,” he muttered, still a bit groggy from hitting his head, although Owen had already assured him he didn’t have a concussion.
“Well you should, you’re alive and your arm’s still attached. You didn’t even lose all that much blood.”
“Could’ve fooled me.” Ianto’s blood-soaked shirt and jacket were already in the bin, completely ruined, and there seemed to be spatters of blood everywhere.
“That’s not all yours, some of it’s Jack’s,” Owen said. “Good thing I was there to stop the bleeding, or you might’ve been in trouble. You’re still in one piece, what more d’you want?”
“Would be nice if I didn’t have a bloody great hole in my arm.”
“Yeah, well, can’t always have everything you want. Just be thankful you’re not dead.”
