Lying in bed, Ryo watched his partner sleep, thinking back over the past few years. It was difficult to remember now exactly why he’d been so determined to keep Dee at arm’s length and not give in to the attraction he felt for his gorgeous lover.
Dee had been so persistent though, refusing to give up despite all the times Ryo rejected his advances. He could have simply shrugged and turned his attentions to someone else, but Dee had been steadfast in his determination to break down the walls Ryo had built around himself, chip away at Ryo’s defences until he was ready to accept the truth.
It couldn’t have been easy on Dee. Ryo knew he’d been giving off mixed signals all along, kissing Dee then pushing him away, confused about what he was feeling and what he really wanted.
Sometimes, he wondered what his life would be like now if he’d insisted that he and Dee remain just friends and work partners, nothing more. He supposed Dee would have eventually gone looking elsewhere.
‘And where would I be? In another unsatisfying relationship with a woman, or still single? Maybe we were always meant to be more than friends.’
The End
