Double Drabble: Dangerous Object

Summary: The Rift has spat out something dangerous, but finding it is proving tricky.

A/N: Double drabble.
The festive season had arrived; the whole of Cardiff, or so it seemed, was adorned with lights and other decorations. It was beautiful, although the persistent rain meant there were even more things than usual dripping on passers-by. Even so, most folk seemed to be making the effort to appear merry, even if they were unpleasantly damp and overladen with too many shopping bags.
Ianto wished he could put on a cheerful smile, spare a moment to enjoy the decorations, or even do some Christmas shopping of his own. But he was working, along with the rest of the team, trying to prevent Christmas from turning into a disaster for Cardiff’s residents.
Somewhere among the throngs of shoppers was an object that, if not located and contained, might well reduce half the city to a pile of rubble.
“Tell me again what we’re looking for?” Ianto asked Jack over his Bluetooth.
“It’s round, about the size of a large grapefruit, and it twinkles.”
“That describes half the bloody decorations!” Owen snapped, joining in the conversation. “How are we supposed to find one twinkly thing among thousands?”
“It twinkles mauve,” Jack said. “Trust me, you’ll know it when you see it.”
