Every planet they visited in their travels was different. Some were so alien, even after so many years their bizarreness made Ianto’s head spin. Two or three suns, multiple moons, or gigantic planets hanging low in the sky. Weird vegetation in weirder colours, pink skies, green skies, orange clouds, and yellow oceans. Trees that grew upside down, their branches spread along the ground while people lived thirty feet up among their roots… He’d seen all that and more.
He loved experiencing the wonders of the universe, witnessing enthralling otherworldly spectacles, meeting people as strange as the planets they evolved on, but sometimes it all got to be a bit much, making him feel like his head might explode from the sensory overload.
This was different. Behind him were rolling green hills covered in something very like grass. Overhead was a wide blue sky, scattered with fluffy white clouds, a single yellow sun shining down. The sand was grainy and yellow, the ocean spread out before him in blues and greens, and the small wavelets around his feet were pleasantly warm as he paddled. It was so like earth it almost hurt.
It was the perfect place to build a home.
