“Damn,” Ryo muttered, shirt half on. He glanced at the clock; he was already running behind and it wouldn’t do to be late, not when he was due to testify in court this morning.
“What’s up?” Dee was lounging on the bed, looking like the cat who’d gotten the cream, which was a fair assessment, and the main reason Ryo was having to rush.
“Loose thread. I don’t have time to fix it right now, so I’ll have to find another shirt to wear. Most of my good ones are waiting to be pressed.”
“No need to mess about with all that.” Dee sat up. “If it’s just a loose thread, do what I always do and break it off.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“You’re worryin’ about nothin’, as usual. It’ll be fine.” So saying, Dee reached for Ryo’s shirt, caught the thread, wrapping it around his fingers, and tugged before Ryo could get his brain in gear and stop him. With a ripping sound, half the collar came off.
Ryo closed his eyes. “Dee…”
“Oops. Sorry ‘bout that.” Dee grinned sheepishly.
“If I’m late for court, I’m gonna blame you.” Ryo went to find another shirt.
