Amy paused. “Excuse me?”
“No, I mean that in a good way,” the Doctor hastened to explain. “You’re unique, full of curiosity, always trying to discover more about the universe, and you’re very inventive. Humans have invented some amazing things; you have chips, zip fasteners, Jammie Dodgers, cricket, and so many kinds of hats.”
“Not the things I’d hoped humanity would be remembered for.”
“But despite all your curiosity, you can’t seem to get along with your own people, fighting each other over land, religion, culture… You embrace individuality yet hate anyone who’s different in any way.”
