A/N: Double drabble.
The staff were in an uproar when Torchwood arrived, although in Ianto’s opinion that was perfectly understandable. It wasn’t every day an accountancy firm saw so much excitement. Even in Cardiff, it was rare for alien invasions to begin on the fourth floor of an office block in the middle of the day.
Rounding the hostiles up took a bit of ingenuity on the part of the team, and by the time they’d captured every last one there was a full-scale argument going on among the four junior accountants and their boss over what had just happened.
“They were aliens!” a twenty-something man insisted.
“Don’t be stupid,” sneered an older woman. “Aliens don’t exist. It was rats.”
A middle-aged, balding man frowned. “On the fourth floor?”
“Rats can climb,” the woman stated firmly.
“They were green, and they had tentacles,” a younger woman said, sipping the water she’d been given. “I’m with Josh. Aliens, definitely. Torchwood doesn’t deal with rodents.”
“Quite right,” Ianto said, smiling brightly as he approached the argumentative accountants. “Rodents are below our paygrade. They were aliens, Zelphinor to be exact. Nasty little buggers, but don’t worry; when you wake up, you’ll all believe they were rats.”
