Some days, Ryo reflected as he stared in disbelief at what he’d just done, even the simplest of tasks somehow failed to go to plan. Making coffee was hardly rocket science, he’d done it hundreds of times, he shouldn’t even need to think about what he was doing, and yet…
“Hey.” Dee appeared in the kitchen. “Everything okay? You were takin’ a long time, thought I’d better check on ya. We outta coffee or somethin’?”
“No, we’ve got plenty of coffee.” Ryo turned the tap on to fill the kettle again, then set it to boil.
“So what’s the problem?”
Ryo turned to his lover, a faint blush staining his cheeks. “I think my brain slipped a gear,” he admitted. “I boiled the kettle, then tipped the water down the sink instead of pouring it into our mugs, so now I’ve got to boil more water. Sorry.”
Dee burst out laughing. “Babe, don’t worry ‘bout it; we all do dumb things sometimes. I ever tell ya about the time I went to post a letter and posted my wallet instead?”
Ryo’s eyes went wide. “Seriously?”
“Yep. I had to wait for the box to be emptied to get it back.”
