“Hey, they’re havin’ a retro night at sixty-nine, ya wanna go? It’s next Friday.”
Ryo glanced briefly at his partner before turning his attention back to the road ahead. “You just randomly decided to ask me that now, on the way to a crime scene? Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
“I didn’t know earlier. Just saw a guy puttin’ up flyers about it, figured I’d ask while it’s fresh in my mind. So whaddaya say?”
“What exactly IS retro night?”
“A jaunt back into the past, baby! Cool fashions, cooler music…” Dee trailed off, grinning. “From the flyers, my guess would be a Seventies disco theme.”
“Seventies’ fashions weren’t cool.”
“Sure they were! Eighties’ fashions were an eyesore, all those shell suits and big hair, but the Seventies… I could dig out my white Saturday Night Fever suit, teach John Travolta a thing or two about the disco look.”
“You own a white suit?” Ryo was barely holding back laughter.
“Damn right I do, and I look frickin’ hot in it. Might swing by a couple retro fashion stores, see if I can get an authentic shirt to wear with it. So, we goin’?”
“How can I say no?”
