A/N: Double drabble. This was written last Monday, but I hope it makes a fitting tribute.
Six months after the 456 debacle and the explosion that had left a massive crater in the middle of the Roald Dahl Plas, everything seemed back to normal, like nothing had ever happened.
Below ground, hidden from locals and tourists, the redesigned and rebuilt Hub was finally finished, and much better equipped than the old one had been. It now boasted a state-of-the-art medical suite, including an operating theatre, a break room with full kitchen, and even dorms where team members could catch a nap when the Rift was running them off their feet. Ianto had been up all night cleaning so the place was spotless, and everything was in readiness for the grand opening.
Dressed in their smartest clothes, Jack and his team stood around the open area beside the Rift pool, which was now an indoor oasis, with waterlilies and koi carp, awaiting the guest of honour.
With a wheezing, groaning sound, the TARDIS materialised a few feet away and the door opened. Everyone stood to attention as a familiar tune started playing and a diminutive figure stepped from the TARDIS.
Jack strode forward. “Welcome to the new Torchwood Hub, Your Majesty.”
“One is delighted to be here.”
