Ryo had been on the receiving end of Dee’s teasing enough times that when the opportunity arose to get a little payback, the temptation was irresistible.
“What’s up, Dee?” He tried to keep a straight face, although it wasn’t easy. “You’re looking a little blue today.”
Dee scowled across their desks. “Laugh it up, buddy; this could’a just as easily have been you!”
“What d’you mean?”
“This!” Dee waved the object in his hand, wincing as more blue droplets scattered about. “Damn it! My pen ran outta ink, figured you wouldn’t mine me borrowin’ one of yours, but that wasn’t workin’ either, so I shook it and…” Trailing off, Dee gestured at the blue ink spots all over his desk, his hands, his white shirt, his face…
Focusing on the pen in Dee’s hand, Ryo shook his head. “Oh, I never use that one. It leaks.”
Ink spattered eyebrows crept up towards Dee’s hairline. “You knew? Why didn’t ya throw the frickin’ thing away?”
Ryo frowned in thought. “I have no idea.”
Despite his annoyance, Dee couldn’t help laughing. “You’re so weird.”
“Me? You’re the one sitting there covered in blue ink spots. Hadn’t you better get cleaned up?”
“I was goin’ to, but then you showed up.” Dee dropped the leaky pen in his trash can and studied his ink-stained fingers. “What’s good for removin’ ink?”
“Soap and water should get the worst off, and you’ll probably need to use a stain remover on your shirt, either that or bleach it. If all else fails, you could dye it dark blue or black.”
“Great, really wishin’ I hadn’t worn a white shirt today.” Dee stood up. “D’ya think if I told the chief I’ve come out in a weird rash he’d let me go home?”
“Somehow I doubt it.”
