Dee flinched as a projectile hit the fence less than a foot away from him. If he hadn’t already been moving he would’ve been hit, and he dived for cover behind some old crates, hunkering down out of sight and checking his weapon; he had four shots left before he’d need to reload, and only one more magazine left. He’d have to make every shot count.

Where was Ryo? Dee wasn’t sure; he’d lost track of his partner’s movements a while back, but he’d still been on his feet and unharmed the last time Dee had seen him. Of the two of them, Ryo was the better shot; he also had fast reflexes and at times Dee could swear he had eyes in the back of his head. Ryo would be fine.

‘I should be worryin’ about myself.’

He cautiously poked his head around the end of the stacked crates, scanning the area quickly before pulling back, but couldn’t see anyone. He couldn’t hear anyone either. A savage grin crossed his face as he turned back; they’d be expecting him to keep going in the same direction, not to circle back around.

Moving fast and as quietly as possible, keeping low and using every available scrap of cover, he made his way to where he thought the shooters were holed up, bursting out of cover only to be disappointed.

“What kept you?” Ryo asked, grinning. He had his weapon trained on his captives, both of whom were splattered with yellow paint. Drake and Ted had their hands up.

“I really thought we had you this time,” Drake sighed. “We would’ve if JJ had been here.”

“JJ hates gettin’ paint on him,” Dee pointed out. “That’s why it’s always the four of us.”

“Well next time I’m pairing up with Ryo.”
