A/N: Double drabble.
Frowning in concentration, Jack carefully slid the heavy tray, laden with five full coffee mugs, towards the edge of the kitchen counter, endeavouring to pick it up without spilling a drop of the heavenly nectar they contained. He was painfully aware of the way the hot liquid sloshed about, coming perilously close to lapping over the rims of the mugs.
How the hell did Ianto do this? Jack had seen him countless times, striding effortlessly through the Hub with his tray, balancing it on one arm as if it was weightless as he distributed hot beverages among the team, but he hadn’t even lifted the tray yet and he was already losing his grip on it. He slid it back onto the countertop; that approach obviously wasn’t going to work.
“Jack?” Ianto hobbled over, leaning heavily on his crutches.
“I can’t do this! I thought I could, but I can’t even pick the tray up without spilling everything! How do you do it?”
“Years of practice,” Ianto said, dry as dust. “No one said you had to hand out the coffees the way I usually do. Just tell everyone to fetch their own. You’re the boss, not the coffee boy.”
