A/N: Triple drabble.
“Since when am I the hotel porter?” Dee grumbled, awkwardly juggling bags and suitcases.
“I’m perfectly willing to carry my own luggage, and Bikky’s,” Ryo reminded his partner. “But you won’t let me.”
“You’re injured!” Dee protested. “In case you forgot, a psycho sliced your arm open!”
“That was two days ago! Besides, it’s not deep. Didn’t even need stitches.”
“Doesn’t mean you should go haulin’ heavy bags. I just don’t get why I’ve got everyone’s luggage. I said I’d carry yours as well as mine, but I’m not a frickin’ pack mule!”
“Then let me carry something. It’s only my right arm that’s injured; I can use my left.” In Ryo’s opinion that was a perfectly reasonable compromise.
“No way!”
“Oooh, let me carry your bags for you, Mister Studly!” JJ begged.
“And who’s gonna carry yours?” Dee asked, gesturing with his chin towards JJ’s three suitcases since his hands were full.
“Um...” JJ looked around, frowning. “How come there aren’t any porters? This is a big hotel.”
“It’s out of season, not enough guests to justify paying a porter,” Ryo explained. “Plus the manager’s been arrested on several counts of murder and attempted murder. Commissioner Rose told me the poor man’s been committed to a psychiatric facility for evaluation.”
“Poor man? He was gonna kill ya, all because you’re half Japanese!”
“He’s not in his right mind, Dee, how can he be after what happened to his daughter? He deserves some compassion.”
“Whatever. Look, can we get goin’? These bags weigh a ton and it’s almost a mile to the parkin’ lot where we left our rental.”
“Fine, but only when everyone’s carrying their own bags, including me. It’s only fair.” Ryo smiled fondly at his partner.
“The kids can carry theirs; I’m takin’ yours, and that’s final!”
