Owen can be so obtuse. Sometimes, Jack wonders if he simply decided after losing Katie that he must be unlovable, not deserving of happiness, but then Diane had come along and…
Yeah, the less said about that fiasco the better. Owen had let himself fall too hard and too fast for someone who was never going to stick around. You can’t clip an eagle’s wings; Diane had needed the freedom of the skies, no matter what it cost her.
Tosh though… She’s right there, and she loves Owen just the way he is, moody and obnoxious though that might be. She accepts everything about him, sees the best and forgives the worst, and Owen must be wearing blinkers if he hasn’t noticed.
They’d be good for each other, the proverbial match made in heaven, because they already know everything about each other, and they both work for Torchwood so they don’t have to hide any part of their lives, and yet…
Owen still mopes, gets drunk, and sleeps around, while Tosh buries herself in her work, using it as a substitute for everything she doesn’t have in her life.
“She loves you,” Jack tells Owen.
“She deserves better,” Owen replies.
