Isabelle screamed, clutching her bedcovers to her chest and staring in mingled terror and outrage at the strange man who’d just appeared in her bedroom.
“Who are you? And how did you get in here?”
“Me? I’m an intruder. I came in tru der window.” He grinned at her like he’d just made a hilarious joke. “Get it?”
She ignored the lame attempt at humour. “The window? That’s impossible, I’m on the thirty-fifth floor!”
“I fell off the roof.”
“But this building has eight-five storeys!”
“I know. Good thing your window was open, or things might’ve got a bit messy.”
