A/N: Triple drabble.
Staying on a farm was quite an eye-opener. Yesterday, Dee had fed the chickens and collected eggs, plucking them still warm from nests and piling them into a basket to take to the kitchen, where they’d been served some scrambled for breakfast. He’d also been allowed into the barn to see a mother cat with her new kittens, tiny balls of fluff with their eyes and ears still sealed shut. He’d never imagined kittens would be so completely helpless at birth.
This morning, Ryo had woken him before it was even fully light out, telling him to get up because the farmer was going to let them watch the cows being milked. Dee hadn’t wanted to leave the comfy bed, he would have preferred to pull the pillow over his head and go back to sleep, but Ryo had been stubborn and determined. So, here they were, trudging along a narrow lane in the first light of day, following thirty fat black and white cows to the milking shed, their pendulous pink udders swinging about as they walked.
Entering the shed, the cows wandered into their assigned places, eager for the food that was waiting for them. The farmer and his two helpers moved along the line, plugging the cows into the milking machine, which rumbled and clanked when it was turned on, sucking milk from the heavy udders, squirting if through pipes to wherever it was collected.
Cows, it turned out, were even gassier than Ted after a chilli cookout. The stink inside the shed was enough to make Dee’s eyes water, while the sound effects had him biting his lip to keep from laughing his head off.
Leaving the shed afterwards, Dee grinned at his lover. “If Bikky ever saw that, it’d put him off milk for life!”
