Title: Unfair Advantage

badly_knittedCharacters: Buffy, demon.

Setting: Somewhere around Season Three.
Summary: Buffy really hates this kind of demon.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Buffy lops off a demon tentacle with her sword, only to see it immediately grow back, the lopped off bit disintegrating to nothing. She does it again and the same thing happens.
“Oh joy. Why didn’t Giles warn me you were one of those?”
The demon doesn’t reply, which is hardly surprising since it doesn’t have a mouth. Or ears for that matter, so it probably didn’t even hear the question.
There’s nothing remotely human about this thing, just a mass of writhing tentacles surrounding something that probably passes for its body. It’s like something out of Lovecraft, and she only knows that because Xander’s taken to reading the complete works, which he found among Giles’ books, claiming he’s doing ‘research’. Which, considering what she’s fighting, might not be so far off the mark.
Demons come in all shapes and sizes, but the kind that regenerate the parts she chops off are definitely the worst; they’re so hard to kill. Or actually not hard, more time consuming that anything, because she has to keep hacking away until she can reach the main body and destroy it, and it’s got more tentacles than she has arms.
“Should’ve kept the rocket launcher.”
