Fillies regularly run with the boys in Europe.

Though, in the case of Grade 1 and Listed races, not generally until the middle of their three-year-old season. It is exceptional to see a filly in the Two Thousand Guineas or the Derby, despite them being given weight for sex.

On the other hand, fillies and mares have an exceptional record in the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe.

It's exceptional to see a filly in one of our Triple Crown races, too, and pretty much the only mares who run with the boys in the big turf races later in the year come from Europe.
