Warrior - 8/10
THIS movie was exactly what I wanted from
The Fighter last year. THIS had everything:
The fight scenes were amazing and brutal BRUTAL!
The relationship between not only the brothers but their estranged father was fantastic
The accents were actually good.
The cinematography - I really loved the small boxes of both brother's stories featuring at once - though I did think it was used a little TOO long
I loved the Principal - played by Kevin Dunn (or the dad in the Transformers franchise who I ADORE in that too.
Nick Nolte was suprisingly good in this. You could really feel that he was trying, trying to make up for lost time, for being a shit parent etc and that MOMENT with his son Tommy/Hardy halfway through in hotel is just heartbreaking. Well played by both actors.
I have to admit, I think Hardy comes away as the better actor between he and Edgerton (and it pains me to say that as an aussie). His whole physical envelopment of who Tommy Conlon was and his past was AMAZING
I think my favourite part was literally the end. I cried, I cheered, I SCREAMED at the TV and then I cried again.
So yes, apart from watching for the FUCKING EYE CANDY (see below), for the story alone its worth a sleepy sunday arvo watch.
And now for the pretty...
Honestly, I could watch them bounce around in that ring with THOSe muscles all the livelong day *sigh*
