What I've Been Watching ...

This was... an up and down movie. It had an indie feel and then it didn't. It had laughs and then it had awkward moments. The footage of Jazz Singer Fats spread out throughout the film felt.. off. There were several side stories that were hinted at and left hanging.. why was Jerry as nutty as he was? Did Alma and Mike ever kiss? What was the deal with Mr Franklin and the lady that I assume lived in his building? The ending was sweet but still.. left me wondering what the hell had just happened. And oh my god Sigorney Weavers drop in.. so out of place.
A big 2/5 for me. Watch if your needing to be confused.

So I caved and watched on the small screen.  And I can actually say I really enjoyed it. The visuals BLEW ME AWAY.  The storyline.. not the best but I get the whole humans are bad to the earth and we should be in harmony with nature spiel.
I loved that they didn't translate the language the (not even bothering to check spelling here cuz i'm lazy) Na-ri spoke, you just had to I guess, have a feel for what they would be saying?  That worked I thought.  I did get a lil attached to the characters. Especially in the big fight at the end. Who would have thought I'd ever care about Michelle Rodriguez?
A lil 3/5 for me. Watch just for the pretty background and if your an aussie hope that Sam's accent dropping in and out doesn't completely piss you off.

LOVED this.  I never expected it to be as emotional as it was at the start. I'll admit it, I cried.
But - I am a crier in movies/books/adverts on tv.
So sue me ;o)
The love behind the characters, the idea that everyone needs someone.. beautiful.
A big 4/5 for me.  I want one of those collars so I can hear my dogs depressing thoughts.

Spending the weekend at my gal pal kiyaraven 's house with her fam we ended up watching a kiddie type movie and another which... yeh I'll get to.  This though, was beautiful.  I fell in love with Wall.E . He reminded me of Short Circuit but shrunk and cuter. A similar sort of message behind this as Avatar.. but a lot easier to handle and of course, aimed at children.  Loved the Captain, loved the two fatties that ended up being the first to realize there was a POOL.
Another big 4/5 for the cockroach alone.

This was the second movie we watched.  And as most people know, I don't DO scary/horror/gore.  This had a great blend of those with comedy thrown in.  YES I squealed. YES i closed my eyes. And I DID GIGGLE!  The search for the last twinkie on earth.. hilarious.  The rules, the way they came up on screen only to tumble down, get shot at etc during the movie I thought was clever and worked really well at reminding you of the main characters lil OCD life saving tendencies. Especially the limber up - that killed me!
3/5 for the cameo Bill Murray makes.

NOW in other news...

What's Kellan been up to?
  • He got a TWITTER
  • Meskada premiered at the Tribecca Festival... with not so great reviews. I still hold out hope!
  • More trailers for Nightmare on Elm Street. Which.. I'm sorry Kellan.. I won't be seeing not even for a moment of you on screen because I DONT DO SCARY MOVIES.

Apparently there is a new He-Man movie (Grayskull) set to come out in 2011 and in People Magazine Kellan was voted to play the part.  Oh yeh, I could handle that.  He-Man was semi hot in cartoon form. In Kellan form.. OFF THE CHARTS!

  • He's started shooting with Mandy Moore for Love, Wedding, Marriage. They aren't great shots, mostly Papz but.. I do think they're kinda cute so I'm posting them.

  • There was a little piece in People with some cute facts about Klutz, my personal fav...

  • He's using his Twitter account to showcase a few of the charities/causes he believes in. Seriously, the man has a heart that is - as the saying goes - as big as Texas.  How can you NOT love him?

He's mentioned NOLA and the St Bernard Project
Rebuilding the Lives of Katrina Survivors, Family by Family.

and the Oil Spill off the coast of New Orleans

And people think I like him JUST for the dimples...
