Round #2

After meeting with an ENT surgeon during my initial onset of Bells Palsy, he warned me that it was very likely I'd have another episode with the nerve within a couple of years. He stressed countless times that it would be critical to visit a doctor immediately, even the ER should an appointment be unavailable.

So for the past few days an earache started building up but it could easily be written off as a nasty side effect of summer allergies. As of the day before yesterday, the nerve pain and screeching in my left ear started up in exactly the same manner as it had in the very beginning. Luckily, I was able to get an emergency appointment with another doctor working out of the same office as my regular internist. Thank god they were able to get me a prescription and heavy steroid shot (reduce swelling on the nerve) right away. Hands down one of the most painful shots I've ever had. I had to appreciate the young nurse lightening the mood by stating that, "at least I'll get to see that cute butt of yours." Seriously, when she pushed down on the thing I could feel that damn serum going in. The shit must be molasses.

The good news is since I was previously aware of the condition and requested exactly what I needed, there's very little chance of having sustained any additional permanent damage to the nerve. Also on the plus side, based on averages I shouldn't have to go through this again for another ten to twenty years. Here's to crossing fingers. On the flip, my butt cheek is sore and the nerve pain in the left ear is freaking killing me, as it's likely to do for another three or fours days. Try focusing or sleeping with a high pitched noise screaming into your ear all day. I dare you!
