Since my cellphone ringtone is the ring of old phones, you know those rings of the old black phones in your lola's house?, everytime a phone rings on TV, I check to see if my phone is ringing. It's a hassle to keep doing this but I'm not changing my ringtone for two reasons: 1. I'm too lazy to look for and download a ringtone I like, and 2. I really like the old phone ring.
I had really nice ringtones back in the day, when I think about it. As someone who constantly consistently loses her cellphone (and I hope never again), I've had some kickass ringtones that I never did acquire ever again. These are the best I've had:
1. "If I Only Had A Brain" from the Wizard of Oz, which Lala said fit me to a T, the wiseass
2. "The Flight of the Valkyries" - I remember listening to it while it rang before I answered a call from Leslie... turns out the call was an emergency as she had rearended somebody while playing hooky from work.
3. "Sweet Child O' Mine," the riff of which still gives me goosebumps to this day, damn you Manuel Legarda
4. "Ars Terror" by the Purplechickens, which Tos had to send me twice because a particular ditz didn't know to save the ringtone after someone sends it.
5. "Little Paradise" by the Dawn, because I was a baduy girlfriend. I still have my moments. Anyway, my favorite memory to this ringtone is not of anyone from the Dawn, but Adrian and me, the Dawn fans, walking to my office singing the bassline over the melody as I let it ring, as Tos trails behind us, rolling his eyes
6. "Show Me Your Love" by Ken Zhu, which is still one of my favorite songs ever, I don't care what anyone says
and
7. "No Rain" which someone sent me anonymously. Whoever you are, thank you, I love that ringtone forever.
I also had the absolute best message alert for a while, which was a loud goat bleat. Its fifteen minutes of fame was in the CCP main theatre (Romeo and Juliet, July 2003), during a silence in between ballet class combination musics, I suddenly get a text - from Kitch!! I still remember! - and the goat bleat resonates throughout the entire theatre, making everyone onstage jump and making Lea scream. That was absolutely hilarious.
Ha, that was fun reminiscing.
