001: Chasm

Your silhouette creeps into mine,
a cold ghost disappearing into
a black outline.

The moonlight lights a halo,
blurs the shadows between us,
blurs the space that hollows.

002: Imperative

Tell me how you are cold and warm,
how your dimples freeze in the cocoon
of me, how our dance through the sheets
left you shivering and wet.

Tell me about the sounds you made, about
each moan placed on skin, about the
sigh you left between the curve of freckles
in between my shoulder blades.

And tell me why when I press into
the texture of you, I am the one to fall apart
instead.

003: Chalk Circle

This is home.

A cottage in Dover. White paint peeling in curls to reveal the shyness of red bricks meeting the sun. The smell of wet stone with the hint of rain. What's missing is the sound of people, of the determined goings on of human life.

The man standing in the middle of town is a soldier, or he was, or maybe he will be. Salazar doesn't know what he is now, or where he is, except that this was once his home. It's as clear as the empty houses, the gardens immaculate except for the lack of persons minding them.

One might call it peaceful. Salazar's travelled too far to think like that.

If you notice, he's crying as he walks steadily through the silence. He walks past the cottage with the peeling paint, heading for the cliffs. Salazar's crying for many reasons. For a war that ended bewilderingly quick, for a world that's left him reeling with confusion. For loss.

There is a man at the edge of town, wearing red-rimmed eyes like the last time Salazar saw him. Godric stands up when Salazar approaches, and there is a hug, but neither lets go. A hitch breaks the beginning of a babble, and Salazar sobs into Godric's shoulder. There is a kiss, but it's a soft comfort against Salazar's neck.
