I'm sure this will be misconstrued somehow...wanderingworldsSeptember 4 2010, 23:30:22 UTC
I use the choice of "slut" because Santana (and Brittany) have openly competed to have had sex with most of the student body. Now, I'm not entirely sure if whether they were involved with guys while those guys were already in committed relationships, but it wouldn't surprise me. Also, Santana basically seduced Finn just to take his virginity, under the pretense that it'd help him get back at Rachel for dating Jesse by making her jealous. I don't know Santana's background, because as a fictional character the show hasn't brought that forward, so maybe there is a reason for how she acts. As far as I'm concerned, though, until that point, she's used sex to get power over the male population and manipulates people to get what she wants.
In the same way, I'd label Puck as a slut, because he has affairs with the women (most often probably married) for which he cleans their pools. Also, he's a bully, for physically threatening (sometimes harming) people who don't listen to him, and for harassing others when fists aren't going to fly. For him, at least, there's a clue into his past as to why he acts the way he does, but even that doesn't excuse the behavior.
Still, these are fictional characters, and I don't dislike either of them. They have their roles in the story and if the writers choose to develop them out of those roles (such as when Puck stopped bullying and was actually sweet) then that's great.
I'm hoping Santana and Brittany become official, because their relationship as is works perfectly. They can stop the "it's not dating, it's just sex" excuse when it's obvious to whoever has watched the show that they mean more to each other than as fuckbuddies.

No, but see, here's the thing you're not getting. "Slut" is a misogynistic word. It doesn't matter why you're using it. It's a derogatory word regarding women's sexuality, and it's wrong to use. I don't care why you think it's accurate; the fact is that it's offensive and you shouldn't be using it.
