Every time I see a character get called by the pet name "Angel" in a fic, I tend to head desk. I'm sure it can be used well somewhere, if it's IC for the character, or in certain situations, but most of the time, eh...

Although, now I'm imagining Lee standing there with a glowing background sunset, declaring that Gaara is an "Angel of glorious youth who will stand beside me against these villains who dare try to destroy our most wonderful nations!" while Gaara gives him this :| look.

I'm not into this pairing, but I find the mental image strangely adorable.

It is an adorable pairing, and I know I am biased, but it's just the cutest thing ever because they are so contrasting, and somehow balance each other out, and Lee's physical appeal isn't exactly typical, so for someone like Gaara to like him makes sense. And for someone like Lee, who has fought Gaara, it's just an amazing ship. But obviously it isn't everyone's cup of tea. And I am sorry to talk your ear off about it. >_<

Honestly, the way you have Lee referring to Gaara as an angel is adorable and so in character. The way it was done in this fic... not so much. Mostly just obnoxiously OoC.

I don't mind at all, we're all allowed to gush over our OTPs, after all. ;P

And I agree, Gaara would need someone unusual, I think, to get be able to get over his history as a heartless monster as well as all the other baggage he comes with. XD Lee is lovable 'cause he's so quirky. The Sand Sibs, Team Gai, and Team 8 (I think that's the Kiba-Hinata-Shino team, right?) were always my favorite teams from Naruto.

I'm glad you think so, since I haven't really touched anything Naruto in a couple of years. Ha ha...

I am glad you at least can see why they would work! :) I've seen comments people have made about how people only ship them because they fought. Which has nothing to do with it, at least, for me. I just see their personalities going well together. :)

I'm all about shipping for emotional/personality/mental reasons, and I tend to think that any ship could work with the right amount of hard work and character development behind it. XD

Another reason they'd work, in my mind, is Gaara would totally need someone outgoing in his life. Like Naruto, or Lee. Given, I like Neji/Gaara and Gaara/Hinata too, but that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish. Ah, who am I kidding, I could probably like just about any pairing if it was written well enough. Rofl.

Yup. That's how I ship. All about personalities/emotionality/etc. I can see Gaara having a crush on Naruto without knowing that's what it is, but unless Naruto stopped being obsessed with Sasuke, I can't see it ever actually happening, and I am one of those people who only ships one person with one person. If I ship one character with two different ones, that's a rarity. haha.

And I agree that as long as you build the characters, the circumstances, and so on in the right way, then that's what makes a pair work. I mean, obviously canonically, Lee and Gaara aren't ever getting together for many reasons, but that's what fanfiction--good fanfiction--is for. :)
