[He's had some pretty rude awakenings from time. This one might take the cake, though.
It starts with some metallic groaning. Then he opens his eyes and realizes he's in some kind of metallic pod. Suspended in the air. He sits up slowly, and is treated to a delightful panoramic of Pripyat.
Because he is at the top of the amusement park's
ferris wheel.]
Oh, you've got to be kidding me.
[Quick inspection proves what he already feared to be true. No Blackberry, no one in sight, no way to turn the damn ride back on and get him down again.
He's going to have to climb.
You might see a scrawny boy clinging precariously to this makeshift jungle gym, descending very, very slowly. It's painful to watch, and unsurprising when it finally happens: his foot slips. Down he starts to go with a strangled cry - then his hands tighten on the metal supports. He dangles; struggles to regain his footing.
He's not going to die falling from a defunct ferris wheel in the middle of a nightmarish ghost town. He refuses.
He's also too proud to call for help, so that might cause a problem.]
