What is it about Spring that always makes me want to Get Shit Done?
I've been working in my bedroom this weekend - realised that I've been in this flat for 3 years and haven't done a damn thing in here. So I've pulled together a list of wants and needs, worked out what I want to do and started pricing it. Main thing to achieve before the end of the year is to decorate it. The other main things are to save up for a new carpet and a new mattress.
But this weekend I have finally fixed the broken curtain track and put new curtains up. Purchased a memory foam mattress topper, new pillows and new bedding and revamped my bed a little. I realised that everything on this bed is like 10 years old and... yeaaah. And OMG with the topper and the new pillows it feels all shiny and amazing and I legit cannot wait to go to bed!
I've also started a purge of my clothes.
As I was putting away clean pyjamas, I got rid of all the old, ripped pjs pants and all the tops where the bottoms had been lost, and all the old mishapen nighties. I now just have my new, fun, geeky pjs: 2x Batman, 1x Star Wars, 1x Harry Potter and 1x Piglet.
It felt really good so as I was doing it I was thinking how bored I was of all the plain v-neck t-shirts I wear to work, and that in the words of Kon Marie, they weren't sparking joy and that I would have a sort through of them too - get rid of anything that's blah. Sell, donate or trash as applicable. Put it down in the 'do this at some point' list.
Only... hah. As I started folding and putting away clean t-shirts? Yeah I ended up pulling all my t-shirts out of my drawers and going through them. I've tossed a coupe in the bin, I have a small pile to got a charity shop, I have a small pile to try on and I have a HUGE pile to see if I can sell on ebay!
Next up will be the purge of the work clothes (possibly tomorrow), sorting out that pile of stuff over there, sorting out the bedside drawers and getting a new, full-length mirror. And at some point hitting up the charity shops and Primark for some replacement clothes!
But for now, there is Joe Flanigan's episode of CSI: Miami, there is my comfy bed. MY muse is painting me pretty pictures about Sam Carter & Ronon Dex. And soon there will be sleep. And tomorrow is a bank holiday so hopefully there will be a lie-in!
