i think i survived

Today has been part disaster and part made of awesome.

It started off as a disaster
The doctor was running late. I ended up not getting seen until 11:35, and by the time I'd been to the pharmacist and got my prescription it was 11:45. Jumped in Lotte and drove out to Stourbridge... getting lost twice. Well taking wrong turns. Yet last week, on my practice run, I got there first time, no problems. I ended up getting there around 12:30

Things started getting a little better from then on.
The finance dept is tiny. There's literally Mandy - who does sales ledger, Paul - the FD, and me. I'm covering another lady called Yvonne who's on long-term sick and she does purchase ledger, expenses, petty cash and payroll. I'm only doing purchase ledger at the moment but it's possible i'll take on the rest of her duties.

The temp they had in before me was, to put it bluntly, about as much use as a chocolate teapot. And, accordingly to Mandy, spent most of the time either on her mobile or teh internet (WTF?!). My first couple hours were literally spent fixing her mistakes - crediting the incorrectly input invoices off and re-entering them.
I'm sorry but it's not a difficult job. You select the correct company, you enter the date and invoice number from the invoice. You check the items on the invoice against the items on the screen. You enter the net value and the VAT. You double check everything. You hit enter. You repeat.
I've not idea how that temp fucked shit up so bad.

I then entered the rest of the ready invoices onto the system.

The rest of the afternoon was spent helping Mandy out because she's 10 days behind, poor thing. So I took over the fun, time-consuming bits like folding invoices, stuffing them into envelopes and running them through the franking machine. Then I checked supplier invoices.
And did lots of filing.

Tomorrow, I'm going to be having an induction and learning their match/batch/coding system so I can help catch up on the MONTHS backlog they have
*facepalm*

It was the journey home where things started to go pear-shaped again. But hey, I didn't get lost! I just started getting stomach cramps, feeling sick and dizzy, hot/cold flushes. It's a bloody long drive home through back roads when you're feeling like that. In fact, I didn't quite make it home. I got as far as my mum's house. Bolted up her stairs, and... emptied out both ends, as it were.
Felt SO much better.
I don't know whether it was a stress reaction or if I've gone and developed a low-level allergy to peanuts. But god I felt wretched.
I'm now curled up in bed, NOT eating ravioli, but instead eating dry toast. And pouting, because I was looking forward to ravioli!
*insert pouty face*
