Fashionably Late...Update
So, I am still 2 cm dilated, 70% effaced. STILL. (She said that I am a "good" 2 cm. Last week, I was a "tight" 2 cm...I guess this means that there has been SOME progress...)
Just because I have had some issues with the pregnancy, and I am beyond my expected due date, they are having me come back into the office on Friday for a non-stress test. They have tentatively scheduled me for an induction on Sunday. This will give me several days to begin labor naturally, and the midwife told me that if I decided that I absolutely did not want to be induced (unless the test Friday reveals a medical necessity), that I could change my mind and decline the scheduled induction...at least for now.
She tried sweeping the membranes. They did that a few weeks ago. It is supposed to help release the necessary hormones that encourage labor to begin and/or progress. It can take multiple attempts before it "works," bringing on active labor.
Please please please pray with me that my baby and my body will decide before Sunday...hell, before Friday...that they are ready, and I am able to naturally achieve labor, and have a safe, healthy and normal birth for my daughter!!
