It has become such a famous line in fandom now hasn't it? It is just the best ever, and I love it. And I can't start a Stefan(/Caroline) meta without it.

Lovely post. When stefan initially sought out damon for advice and was basically saying he didn't think the thing with Caroline was real & both brothers referenced the past true love experience with Katherine & Elena I was screaming at the tv "that wasn't real - it was a dopplerganger curse that's why it doesn't feel the same!!!!' I hate when the show ignored its own convoluted history / mythology.

I laughed out loud during Stefan's light bulb moment during the memorial because given how oblivious his character is written so often he needed a literal awakening moment.

I'm also interested to see now stefan handles messy Caroline and how much of her issue he makes about him like he did with Elena. Also if he'll try to blame Damon for her turning it off or giving him 'wrong' advice initially.

It'd be great if Caroline ran off to NOLA - I was disappointed there wasn't a small throwaway moment where someone mentions Klaus sending his condolences. I know that the writers are only interested in pushing Stefan/Caroline but some of us still like Klaus with her.

I wondered about the doppelganger thing too for a moment, and then I was like, wait, did they disprove it as not true? I can't remember. And since I hate most of S5, I wasn't willing to go back and see if I could find support for my thought process.

I actually think Stefan is totally done with blaming Damon for anything. When Elena erased her memories, it forced Stefan into some other truths about his brother that he can't go back on. I feel like his knee jerk reactions of the past are gone now. (At least, I hope so.)

I have this little fantasy about Klaus finding out about Stefan and Caroline and giving his blessing because he's in love with both of them, LOL. I do miss him in the fabric of Mystic Falls, for sure.
