So, have you all ever seen the movie Some Kind of Wonderful? It is a John Hughes written (but not directed) film from 1987, about a high school love triangle. It was written in juxtaposition to the 1986 Hughes flick Pretty in Pink because that one didn't go the way he had planned it, so he had to write another similar story where the characters ( Read more... )

True Fandom Confessions: I have never seen SKoW (or Can't Buy Me Love, just to cover all my bases). But obviously I know about it, and know about the boombox scene and stuff, and I guess I really should watch it, because that Amanda character? Sounds like the kind of girl I was talking about this morning, the kind of girl that I usually dig. (And of course, I'm saying this with no knowledge, but I think this is why I tend to gravitate towards the 'Carolines', the ones who are *supposed* to be just, pretty, feminine, whatevers, but people have a billion sides.)

Jeez-louise, what was I doing in the 80's? Why do I not remember any of this? I must have been too busy watching Roadhouse and straight-to-video Dolph Lundgren movies. (I was too busy doing that. I'm strange.)

OMG, this is one of my all-time favorite movies! I love it, I love the soundtrack, I love Mary Stuart Masterson, and I love Eric Stoltz.
