I could make a whole post just about that movie, but I'd want to do a rewatch before spewing thoughts. But, just trust me. Cameron Crowe, before he was Cameron Crowe. SO GOOD.
Some Kind of Wonderful is Lea Thompson-Eric Stoltz-Mary Stuart Masterson, and yes, you should see it, because it's really good. And it's really funny, too. But it's real, and all about social class and love and independence. And as I've just realized: feminism! LOL.
Can't Buy Me Love is not on the same level as these films, IMHO. It's okay, but I don't own it.

I was coming of age on all those mid-80s movies, though I never saw The Breakfast Club until I was like 15 (1990) because it was R rated, LOL. But I would definitely say, top five 80s teen movies, ever:
1) TBC
2) Say Anything
3) Some Kind of Wonderful
4) Footloose
5) Pretty in Pink
