Seven Days of Self-Promotion: Day Seven
So, sometimes you start writing and it just goes some place you never dreamed of, or you have a vision of the way it will be and it comes out somewhat similar. Occasionally there is an epiphany. This story was my epiphany.
During my brief time in the Glee fandom, I wrote a handful of stories. My OTP was Puck/Quinn, but I first wrote Puck/Rachel for an exchange I participated in. They were a lot of fun, and I grew to appreciate them. Some time after that I was listening to the Wicked Soundtrack and the song "Thank Goodness" and the line because happy is what happens when all your dreams come true made this entire story just APPEAR in my head. The details weren't there, but the major plot points, and the angst of a Quinn-Puck-Rachel triangle was just too delicious to resist.

When I think of this story, even four years after the original posting, I am so pleased with it. Every part of it just worked. I got surprised a time or two during the writing of it, when the characters' arcs took them to places that 16-year-olds shouldn't have to, but at the same time it felt real. There was great truth in it, and that's why it will probably always be my favorite thing I've ever written. A friend at the time called it my masterpiece, and I agree.
