[Come, before Oliver Queen gets off!]

I was scrolling through Netflix last night, and Arrow was there, and I thought, ah, well. I'll give it a try.

I'm not blind, obviously, Stephen Amell is attractive. Like, ridiculously attractive. And he wears a v-neck sweater really, really well. And Oliver is an interesting character for sure. I'm about to start episode 1x06, but thought I'd make a post before I get much further, just to keep track of my initial impressions.

A) Diggle is my favorite character, for obvious reasons. I really loved that he is who Ollie chose to reveal himself to first, and that Diggle's reaction was so vehement, because the whole time I've been watching Ollie meteing out *justice* I've felt uncomfortable with it -- like who made you jury, judge, and executioner? So I like that Diggle might serve not only as a partner for protection physically, but that he will also work as the conscience that Ollie seems to have left behind him.

B) I know nothing about the Green Arrow comics, and this whole time I've been trying to figure out how this goes along with that Ryan Reynolds movie, but I just realized that that was GREEN LANTERN, duh. No relation. LOL.

C) I like Laurel. (I've seen enough fandom stuff to know that Felicity is going to play into it bigger at some point, and I do like her, as well, though so far she's had like two scenes, but they've been very memorable scenes, so kudos to that actress.) But I do love the tortured history of Ollie and Laurel, and Laurel is very pretty, and I'm shallow. And every time she calls him shallow and he gets that look on his face where you know he wants to tell her but he just won't do it, I'm all smitten with the two of them.

D) Susanna Thompson as Ollie's mother is interesting because I can't decide if I like her or not. I mean, I love the actress, but she's murky. She seems like a powerful woman, but she also seems like a pawn in the bigger game, so I'm reserving judgment on her.

E) Thea. She kinda bugged me in the first two or three episodes, but I'm warming to her now. I do like the relationship between her and Ollie, and kinda hope she's the next one he tells the truth to.

F) I also like Tommy, but can't decide if he's really important to the story or not.

G) The flashbacks are harrowing, but well done as far as how they are tightly plotted and reveal just enough info each episode to carry everything forward.

So, yes, I like it, a lot so far. And it will be sad when I finish S1 and have to wait however long for S2!
