[+] So, the scene between Veronica and Keith at the hospital? They are standing there, in the exact same stance while arguing about how it's too dangerous for her to help with anything to do with Weevil's case. I love that, almost as much as you know, YOU KNOW, that telling her it's dangerous is just more fuel for her fire. And thus, she whips out another voice to seduce Dan Lamb.
[+] Jerry O'Connell plays the slimeball brother of Don Lamb very well, but it really made me miss Don Lamb again. His is the death that makes me most bitter during the series, which is weird, right?
[+] Most improved goes to Leo, the former deputy now FBI guy, because I seriously COULD NOT STAND HIM on the show. When he talks now he doesn't sound like he has a mouth full of cotton. I wonder how he got over that. Plus, their scene was GREAT! I, like Veronica, wondered if he'd had a traumatic brain injury or something when he couldn't remember her!
[+] Also, nice referencing how S4 of Veronica Mars was going to have Veronica joining the FBI -- in another life. Yup, yup.
[+] Alright, so basically any scene with Logan, Veronica, and Dick just makes me happy. Snipe, snipe, snipe, the gang's all back! Logan's casual I didn't know you and Piz were a thing matches Veronica's equally stupid I didn't know my love life was relevant reply. After taking the LONG WAY HOME, Veronica? Really? REALLY? You're so full of it.
Just cute, not in-character:
[+] Also, I'm not sure if was RT's intent to throw suspicion on Dick, but I never thought for a moment, even when he got mad at Veronica, that he had anything to do with any murder. He's just not savvy enough for that, and he would never let Logan hang if he did know something. That's why I also love in this scene, how he's all I'm your friend! butthurt over it because he would never keep something in if it could help Logan's case.
[+] I loved the "your tablet/iPad is spying on you" technology twist. They recently used that on The Good Wife, and I saw a couple of girls on a talk show who had had inappropriate photos of them put on the internet because some guy had hacked their computer feeds for the images he could obtain in just that way, so it's a real thing, which is really freaky. Don't undress in front of your iPad or your laptop, it could be spying on you! For reals!
[+] James Franco. LOL. I wonder, who he's friends with that he was willing to do this? I mean, I know the guy is game for anything, but you know they didn't pay him much. Or maybe they paid him in tablets, since he wanted a bunch of them. His cameo was awesome, though. Totally great.
[+] VINNIE VAN LOWE. I was seriously so happy to see him. And then he HITS on Veronica? Of course he does. And he calls her "VMars." THE BEST.
[+] Logan and Veronica watching the video feed from Carrie's tablet is another scene that illustrates what I mentioned a day or two ago about Logan's capacity to love--his face as he's watching them interact is just precious. You know he was no longer in love with Carrie (and even if he had been Veronica TRUMPS all other females), but his affection for her is still real and pure.
[+] Veronica figuring out how Logan got set up was typical of her crime-solving abilities, as was the Trucker Hat Cam visit to Sheriff Lamb, but still Logan just steals the moment.
Because this:
is classic Logan. I've always loved the flair of his hand gestures. And the Sheriff just wanting to convict whoever is handy is classic of them, too.
[+] The Piz/Veronica break-up scene is technically in the next 15 minutes, but I'm going to end on that note: Piz has it all right when he says "that friendship or loyalty or whatever it is" because as much as Veronica wants to solve the case, because she loves solving cases, it is so much more about her friendship and loyalty to Logan than it is about being in love with him, though I do not doubt that she has always been in love with him, too. That's what's so wonderful about their connection--it's nothing more than that annoying first line from the theme song, A long time ago, we used to be friends... because it is all that old stuff, their years of EVERYTHING that keeps her hanging on. It's her ties to their town, to their high school even, and even possibly to her wanting to make it right for Carrie, who she once wronged; I can totally see Veronica having that thought process. So, yeah, as much as my heart hurts for Piz, there was just never any competition. Logan's not her first love, Neptune and crime solving are; Logan is, however, her epic love. And we shall address that next time!
