I had totally forgotten about this! And so I just phoned my insurance company to tell them that I NEED a TV today. Just for the purposes of this rewatch. I never watched in real time either. I think I got into VM about midway through S1 and then watched all the episodes in about a day. Obligatory psychotic jackass = favourite saying of all.
I am so looking forward to watching this again tonight! Assuming I have a TV by then...
Shouldn't you phone your cable company? Over here insurance is what we need so we don't have to pay too much money at the doctor, it's not where we get our TV channels. LOL.
I hope you do get it taken care of, though, so you can come discuss!
Also, I love how almost everyone who has LoVe icons has them kissing. So cute :D
Haha I now realise that would make very little sense to you! I was still waiting for my insurance claim to go through from when I was burgled in February so I haven't had a TV for about 8 weeks. I have one now though and I watched the pilot again yesterday night to celebrate. So much love for this show

Thanks for explaining it! I was totally like, I have never heard of that before! :D
I think Sheriff Lamb is ALWAYS a dick. I mean, it's basically his dickishness that gets him killed in the end. He was a terrible, arrogant jerkoff, he really was. And his contempt for Veronica in her hour of need is just--ugh. He's the absolute worst, he is.
You just have to see Duncan for what he was: Veronica desperately trying to hold on to the time in her life when things made sense and terrible things hadn't happened to her and her best friend. That's all it is, really. Duncan was about the past, and Logan was about the future, and the future scared her; she wanted to go back to the safety of her innocence. :*( And who could blame her? She had it tough!
Haha, it isn't like I haven't already driven everyone crazy asking about VMars things all the time xD And Veronica's flashback hair is awful, but also adorable in the oh, honey *shakes head* sort of way.
When I first started watching I'd already heard a LOT about Veronica/Logan, so I knew it was going to happen, and this I was concentrating on their dynamic to the detriment of everyone else. And I truly thought I wouldn't ship them because it'd been so highly recommended that I was convinced it couldn't live up. But then she said the "obligatory psychotic jackass" line and I was all BEST INTRODUCTION FOR A LOVE INTEREST EVER and shipped them from that moment on.
But I just rewatched An Echolls Family Christmas and honestly, out of nowhere I'm suddenly shipping Weevil/Veronica too, because perfect. So OT3 forever is Weevil/Veronica/Logan. And this scene also captures why; they're all three snarky, headstrong, people, who are often blindsided in their single-mindedness, and everything about them together

This is the place for you! Hopefully we can get all that therapy in that you need over the course of this rewatch!
I was the same about Logan and Veronica--had heard the hype, but figured I'd get on board, I'm fairly predictable for the most part. But I didn't get Logan for such a long time. I don't think I started really liking him until 1x10 or 1x11. I mean by the time they kissed, I was fully on-board, but it took a while. I really liked Weevil so much more. I wasn't attracted to Logan at first, and unfortunately for me and my complete shallowness, that is a MUST-HAVE. ;-)
I will hope and pray that there is some Weevil/Logan resolution in the Big Damn Movie, because it has always bothered me that he thinks Logan beats the shit out of Lilly. I would like that repaired, Rob Thomas! I should tweet him, come to think of it!
We won't get there for ages, but my favorite episode of all time is the one where Logan Babysits Dick's Girlfriend's Little Sister. Which I don't know the real name of it, but that's what it should be named,
This is a disclaimer to say that work has been nuts and I've been/will be overseas for about 5 of 8 weeks in recent times but I TOTALLY have your VM fic open in multiple tabs awaiting my perusal. I am excited about it

I believe the pilot is one of the better on the TV but specifically one of the better pilots for teenage audience for sure. It's simply great writing that makes it so

Ha, I never thought about it until now, but it's true--Weevil and Vee would have been very cliche. I read Francis Capra's blog, though, and he was convinced that Weevil was in love with Veronica, at least by S3, anyway, and that was how he played it, knowing he'd never get the girl kind of a thing.
But like you, in the end I shipped a Logan/Weevil bromance more than Weevil/Veronica actual romance. I wish we'd gotten more of that. Because yes, they were very alike, and that's probably why, to a certain extent, Lilly liked both of them. Two sides of the same coin.
Logan's inflections and mannerisms are by far what make him the character he is--I agree, I think JDohr is a GREAT actor and what he did with Logan is priceless. I can't wait for the movie!
I think I first started watching VM right after the 2nd season had aired, and I watched S1&2 in about three days. That was way before I got into fandom stuff, LJ and all that, and so I had no one to discuss this with at the time. Well, I did try to talk hubby’s (then fiancé) ear off, until he told me that he has no idea who Logan and Veronica were, doesn't want to know, and he’d rather talk about the wedding reception menu with this kind restaurant manager right now, seeing as how we drove an hour to meet him, instead of how epic LoVe are. Ahem. :D
I’ve always loved Veronica’s cynicism and jadedness, and her opening lines were just perfect. “Sooner or later, the people you love let you down. And here's where it ends up: sleazy men, cocktail waitresses, cheap motels on the wrong side of town and a soon-to-be ex-spouse wanting a bigger piece of the settlement pie.” Boom. And there you have it, a teenage girl unlike anything seen on TV high school shows before (or after, I think
( ... )
Oh, go for it. I can’t seem to reconcile my limited icon space with the sudden craving for LoVe icons, but this one I had to have, after I spent 3 very productive hours going through dozens of VM icon posts. :D
Heh, for the most part he found my raging Veronica Mars obsession amusing, with only the occasional “Adis, babe, please focus,” but I’m sure my behavior at the time would have been sufficient cause for a weaker man to call off the wedding. lol
( ... )
Oh my, I second all of this so much. I also mainlined S1 of VM shortly after it aired and it's actually what got me started with an LJ account so I have a lot to thank it for! Veronica is just the perfect mix of idealism and cynicism for me. She's seen far more than she should and she has that world-weary air about her, but every so often you get a glimpse of the girl that she could have been if she hadn't been exposed to all this tragedy. When her mum returns and she thinks that she could get her family back together again? That hope that she has when you know that she's never going to get a happy ending is devastating.
Duncan had better not be in the movie unless it's as a Skype call. I'll be pissed.
Logan's tormenting of Veronica was the thing that immediately sparked my interest. As you say, you instantly knew that there was something more going on beneath the surface and it's so compelling.
