Head on over to het_reccers to vote. Damon and Elena are in the ninth group, and are currently losing to Steve Rogers/Darcy Lewis from the Avengers universe. Now, while I love the Avengers universe, these two characters have not even MET onscreen, so Damon and Elena can't lose to them! GO VOTE!

irony_rocks, the main mod, is a big Damon/Bonnie fan. So yeah, not so much. But come on, they can't lose to two characters who have never even met! That's just wrong!

She wrote this epic D/B story where Damon became human. It was actually quite good. Sometimes I can ship them, too, but apparently there is some interaction between the two characters in the books, so some people have love for them that stems from that. Having never read the books (and not ever planning to), I don't know. But I think Kat and Ian have good chemistry, it's just, you know, Nina and Ian. Like, times a million + infinity....

They may not have met on screen, but man do they have a following! (And pretty excellent fic written for them! ha) Never underestimate the little black dress of Avengers fandoms that is Darcy!

And I'll just say, that the ships were randomly assigned slots, and she took the ones with the most tag uses, and het-reccers has just as many for Elena/Damon as they do Damon/Bonnie. and mods really have no power over who recs what, it's totally up to member participation as I am sure you are aware. Some of my favorite ships didn't even get to play! :( But rules are rules. This just reminds me to rec more for them in the future!

Oh, I love Darcy, and I love Steve, you'll get no complaints about the characters themselves! I just don't want them to beat my OTP!

As for who votes at het_reccers, what I meant was with irony_rocks, she naturally brings fans of the fandoms she writes for with her (just like comms I mod tend to draw like-minded people), so my point was that Damon and Elena could be under-represented simply because people don't know about the comm, hence my pimping about it.

There are some groups, like the one with Mulder&Scully that don't even stand a chance, so you know. It's all a crapshoot anyway!

I just want to go on record as saying that poll is BRUTAL. Why are all my favorite ships ever in the same brackets???

It's ridiculous that D/E is losing, but if it's because there were D/E fans who were split in their loyalties, then I can forgive them. They made wrong choice (lol), but I can forgive them, as I too had to make choices I thought I'd never have to make. Clearly, I ship too much.

I'm in shock that not only are D/E losing but Matthew/Mary from Downton Abbey are 1) included, 2) winning and 3) winning by one of the largest amounts of any ship.

Mind. Blown.
