Why I Fangirl Damon Salvatore, by badboy_fangirl

First of all, he's a fictional character. Let's be clear that I understand the difference between fact and fiction. HE'S NOT REAL, Y'ALL. That's what makes him interesting: he exists in a realm different than my ordinary life.

Second of all, he's a supernatural being in a fictional world. He's a vampire-a creature which traditionally tends to be violent, creepy, and unkind to human beings. )

(THAT'S WHY I WISH THEY COULD JUST MAKE UP AND BE BEST BROTHERS AGAIN.)
Except that Ian thinks that BO-RING. :D

I agree though, I want to see more cohesiveness between them, and an emotional connection made, because I do love them when things are clicking. But you know there is something to be said for Damon nearly staking Stefan in the morning, and Stefan calling Damon for help in the evening and Damon saying "I'll take care of it," meaning he was off to sacrifice himself for The Cause.

Louisiana has a few more claims to fame than Mr. Smolderhalder. But he may be their finest export, fo sho. :D

Not a Jared Leto fan, huh? I think he's very pretty. Not a huge fan of his band. Will always love Jordan Catalano.

Whenever I doubt the bond between Damon and Stefan, all I have to do is remember "Let the Right One In" and Damon's face in the doorway at Pearl's house.

OMG, Jared Leto is 40????!!!!! Well, I'm 36, so I guess that makes sense--except, except!! MSCL is one of my all-time favorites. If I had known what fanfic was then, I'm sure I would have written it. It was so, so, so good. Claire Danes coined that phrase, "He's so beautiful, it hurts to look at him ( ... )

Yes, I think Stefan will be able to worm his way back into my affections with what ought to be jaw-dropping concern for his brother when he realizes he's GONNA DIE NOT REALLY!

Especially because he was off saving the day while Stefan was AT A WATER FALL!

Yes! Exactly. Damon and Stephan may battle it out and be awful to each other, but when chips are down, Stephan calls Damon for help, and Damon is willing to "take care of it." that whole part made me wonder more about their relationship. Once a big brother- always a big brother- and that's what they do- but! I think it needs to be said time and again that Stephan has just as many flaws as Damon- (possibly even more so) he's certainly just as ruthless- but he has a different way of getting his hands dirty.

How do you feel about the parallels between Damon/Stephan/Elena and Elijah/klaus/Katherine?

And one more note- if they kill off Damon- I'm done. I barely survived when Ianto was killed on Torchwood- it would just be too much. He's the most complex and watchable character on TV- it just wouldn't be in me go watch an Elena/Stephan schmoop-fest.

They can't kill their bread and butter--Ian is why this show is as popular as it is. They know that, and they aren't stupid. There is some cure for a wolf bite, I'm positive. (But if for some reason they're on crack and kill him off, I'm done with the show too.)

As for the parallels--hmmm. I don't know how I feel about them. I mean, it's interesting, and it certainly makes Klaus and Elijah more interesting, but I also like how Elijah seems to empathize with Damon, having been more in that position in the previous triangle, yet realizing Damon's temperment makes him more like Klaus. I think I'll have more thoughts about it as more information comes to light.
