I'm caught up to 1x19, because Lauren had hijacked the TV for American Idol and I was too late to program the DVR for Glee (Christopher's band concert ate my evening).
A lot of slash is kind of "writing behind the scenes," where even a character who doesn't seem gay succumbs to a fatal attraction to someone unexpected (which is part of the allure, really). It's kind of like writing an unconventional hetero-ship where canon is banging on a different Michael/Sara drum, or writing any kind of hate-sex dynamic (because normally the characters wouldn't-- they don't even like each other!-- but maybe those high emotions turn to a different direction). Making it believable, regardless, is always the challenge and the thrill.
But yes, it is easier if the character is already gay or bisexual. And sometimes fans anticipate where characters eventually go. :0
Not that it was a secret with Kurt, or anything. I think there's some real dramatic potential now for Finn/Kurt if Kurt was still attracted to Finn while fearing being displaced by him in his Dad's affections. Or crack, because the Finn side of it could be, "Lalalalalala... What?"
Thanks for dipping a toe in the waters! Can't wait to see what comes of the other prompts. :)
