Alphabet Meme continues:
He was in the eighth grade the first time he heard the term. He'd been watching the E! True Hollywood Story on Mario Lopez, and someone being interviewed said they had a boycrush on him.
He'd been lounging on the couch in a pair of silk pajamas his father had unwillingly purchased for him, and Kurt can remember sitting straight up when he heard that word.
Boycrush. This was a feeling he'd recently begun to experience on a regular basis. There were girls he liked, and wanted to hang out with as friends, but he'd never had a stronger, more powerful inclination towards any of those girls with whom he'd spent hours watching romantic comedies or looking through fashion magazines. There were certain boys at his junior high that did funny things to the pit of his stomach, however.
All the same, the term itself got tucked into the back of his mind until he reached high school. The first week of freshman year, he saw Finn Hudson and the intensity of his attraction seemed too big for a little word like crush.
But he was a boy, and Finn was a boy, and a crush was what lay between them. Every action on Finn's part made the feeling more intense; the few times he stuck up for Kurt in front of Puck, or the football team, or even in Glee club made that initial crush segue into something deeper and more meaningful.
He was 16 years old the first time he fell in love, and unfortunately it was with his hopelessly straight, brand new, step-brother. Every day was like a Chinese torture test, something that pressed at his temper and strangled his emotions almost constantly.
He lay on his bed with copious tears sliding down his temples as he imagined a world that went on forever, just like this. It was one where he wanted what he could not have, and the whole rest of the cast of characters just stood idly by, smiling and living their completely oblivious lives.
The day before Regionals, Glee Club is shattered by a scandal of epic proportions. Bigger than the president of the celibacy club turning up pregnant, bigger than said pregnant girl lying about the father of her child, bigger even than finding out that Shelby Corcoran, the Vocal Adrenaline coach, was Rachel Berry's biological mother.
What could be bigger than that?
Jesse St. James, the boy who had pretended to like Rachel Berry for a plethora of reasons, taps Kurt on the shoulder and asks him, "You wanna go grab a bite to eat?" in front of everyone.
The entire Glee club looks at both of them, and Kurt watches while Finn's face turns an unattractive shade of red.
"Oh, my God!" Kurt's step-brother shouts, standing up and forcefully kicking a chair out of his way as he stomps from the room.
Kurt looks around the room, and then back to Jesse. "I'd love to," he responds.
