Sorry, for the long rant.
This bugs me since forever. Why is it so fucking hard to research? Different "you"-s in paragraphs, different players.
Say, you want a demon-hunter character. You can! But then screaming at us because our characters mention banshees, and "well, I don't know it, but he would've!" is just stupid. If you don't know what we are talking about, then ASK in OOC chat, or in PM, either of us would've answered. I believe in the power of google and research, but if you are lazy, you know, we would've told you what a banshee is. No need of ragequit.
Or when... you know, when you decide to rp an obviously non-binary character... and you already start rp-ing hir, I don't think it should be ME, who's not even your close friend, who explains it to you what does it mean. (Not to mention, I side-eye you BIG TIME for making this character, especially as a few days before bringing hir in, you made some pretty transphobic comments about my transguy. I'm keeping an eye on you.)
Or you shouldn't bring in an oh-so-awesome mafia kid... who uses a scythe as her weapon. I... I think if you want to dispose of someone quietly, fast, and not-too-messy, a scythe isn't the best choice. And you said that her speciality is to dispose of others without a trace. With. A. Scythe? Isn't it like... messy?
"My character uses a rifle" "What type?" "Oh how should I know, lol." It might be just a pet peeve, but it bothers me big time. If I give my character a weapon, I do some research about it. About it's type, where is it practical to use, etc. Again, YMMV, and might be a pet peeve, but it just bothers me.
In the site I play, there was an awesome, site-wide plot going on. Moderators were asked to look out for players to follow the rules. The rules were simple. There was a virus going on - a cute, fluffy animal attached itself to the character, but after a few hours, it became aggressive. Attacking the character - not dangerously, it was little, so it was more like a nuisance. And it bugged the character, trying to sabotage them. If a character has a daemon, the daemon transforms into this fluffy nightmare, and doesn't care if they cause themselves pain either - they just want to give'em hell. The virus spreads rapidly, and it was a really fun game.
And we watched out for the players, and warned them to follow the rules. For example two girls tried to play it off as just "cute fluffy things, you just have to take care of them". And when I warned them? Their response? "Why the hell were you reading OUR GAME?!" Ummm... because I was a mod back then? Seesh.
But then even other mods gave us the finger. One decided to lock her character's fluffy nightmare up to her room. That thing functioned as a daemon! You can't stand being apart from them for long, it does not work that way! An other girl outright blew her daemon up, and laughed at my face for calling her out for it. I mean... if mods don't follow the rules either, what do we expect from standard players?
In the end, the Admins didn't have time to finish the story (we started to investigate, but the Admins were too busy to finish it), and just said that "it ended, the characters found the cure, etc". It was a shame because it WAS fun. While everyone followed the rules.
And just a tiny question, BPRS: in this site, you can be a lot of things by default: human, elf, half-elf, half-veela, half-giant, gnome. And similarly, 1/4 elf, 1/4 giant, half-gnome, etc.
If you meet certain requirements, you can have special characters. Half-angel, half-demon, half-djinn, half-elemental, veela, and half-animal hybrids.
A very few, long-time, loyal, active characters could became vampires and werewolves. There are three from both species.
There's a chance, if you character was previously a member of a species, you can change it, because the place is very-very-special. I, personally dislike this option, and don't use it, but hey. Others do, cool, I'll never.
So. There's a female character (with bonus tragic!past, and a painful, unrequited love (it IS played out, the guy totally just fucked her and used her every way he could, so this side WAS played out), and the ability to use DRAMA. (Sudden faint, abilities going wild and out of control, demonic possession, etc.)
This character is one of the vampires.
And she turned into a half-angel. She's the only character, who's TWO special species' in one. (There is a gnome-werewolf girl, but she WAS a gnome to begin with when she was bitten, so I don't count it as special.)
The question is: is a half-angel-vampire too much, or I'm just overthinking things, and this is just YMMV too?
