Hello Folks,
I'm new to BRPS, and if you'll excuse me I'm going to vent my guts out. I'm going to sound pretentious, I'm going to sound snobby, but god damn it I'm just so pissed off right now I don't care.
Firstly I'd like to start off by saying that I'm really tired of all the Cliquetastic bullshit going on in the DRoP fandom right now. I'm not

To address your points, some Pern games have been cliquey for decades. Good ones aren't. Nothing has changed. Plus, no one can ever agree on what 'cliquey and playing favorites' looks like. I find frequently that people who complain about it really mean 'someone else got what I wanted and it's not fair because I wanted it'. Not always, but frequently. I also conclude that anyone who goes 'back in the [x] days, it wasn't like this' is either incredibly naive, disingenuous or the object of favoritism themselves.
Second, you are coming off as a shiny-hunter. 'I don't like greens they've been ruined for me' would say to me as an admin 'I want special dragons and I'll pout if I don't get it'. (Or it says 'I have no imagination, so everyone has to cater to me' but that's not a particularly flattering thing either.) And claiming that you're getting 'left overs' really sounds like 'I want a gold/special dragon'.
Of course, I run a canon game, so lots of people get greens. I would never let someone have a gold if they couldn't/wouldn't play greens and blues too. But then, I'm one of those admins who judges people based 'on their loyalty to the site and how active they were'.
In conclusion, you're presenting yourself as a brat. I normally welcome everyone, but I'll be honest - I have a very low tolerance for whineyness and if you pulled this at my Weyr, you'd be told that you are free to leave at any time. And don't complain if people judge you for you preferences. They do have that right, just as you have the right to complain, and if this is the way you present yourself, then you're opening yourself up to that judgment.

EDIT: For the record, I'm like the anti-shiny-hunter. I like blues.

Which is a long way to say that, no, there are no sexuality rules. I do go with bronzes Impress males only, and golds Impress females only, but that's as far as I go. Female brownriders are uncommon, but definitely present and female blueriders make up probably about a third of all blueriders.
Now, I have to say, it's not a forum. This is a pbem. But that doesn't make a difference to us welcoming you. We love new people.

And that's good. The bronze/gold impressing never seemed like a bad thing to me, it makes sense and is balanced. The character I'd probably play is an ace male, which the author didn't even specify because nobody's asexual amirite.

Asexuals don't get sexytimes, so why would anyone want them? (I hope the sarcasm there comes through clearly.)

Roleplaying sex bores me. Am I weird?
And I googled it just after I asked, stupid me. Sounds interesting, though I can't say I can imagine the logistics too easily.

I don't care to roleplay sex either. The game has a strict fade-to-black. I like romance, and I have no problems with characters in sexual relationships, but I don't want to read the details.
The way we do it (which is not universal) is that all rps are open and an rp covers a unit of time, rather than a specific location. Like, we have a thread going on now that is taking place on a particularly hot afternoon. Part of it is in the creche, a part's in the infirmary, a part's at the lake, but it's all taking place at the same time. And people just jump in wherever they feel like, and we all run with it.
Then, just to complicate matters, we also publish a quarterly zine where we put stories we've written - things that happen in private or develop further on things that happen in rps.
It's hard to explain, but I think it makes more sense if you see it happening.

Actually that sounds pretty awesome. What level of activity would I need to maintain?

And if I don't hear from someone for like six months, I tend to assume they've left.

I ask because though I'm student scum and don't go back to Uni until late September, I will have a high workload when I do and as such, don't want to join and then have to leave due to posting less frequently.
