Hello Folks,
I'm new to BRPS, and if you'll excuse me I'm going to vent my guts out. I'm going to sound pretentious, I'm going to sound snobby, but god damn it I'm just so pissed off right now I don't care.
Firstly I'd like to start off by saying that I'm really tired of all the Cliquetastic bullshit going on in the DRoP fandom right now. I'm not

You were offered solutions, including having the dragon between (and having your character being a stands candidate in the future) or more simply, the creation of another character. You know you wouldn't have been penalized for retiring your existing character. No one else was. You refused to do either. The fact that you didn't like our solutions doesn't mean we didn't offer them.
You want to impress golds or gold analogs. Say 'greens have been ruined for me' all you want, but I've heard you complain about 'low rankers' in general. And that's fine. You can want a gold rider. But when you'll only create one character for a site with the expectation that that single character will be the one chosen to impress a clutcher your expectations are more than a little high. Especially for a site like ours where dragons are matched based on personality. They're not 'earned' so no amount of being a good player will get you one.
Heck, in the clutch you had a character stand for with us, Iiateth was always going to impress a guy. I didn't know which, but I knew that much from the moment I wrote her. So your character was never in the running. By having such a narrow character range (at least, as far as you've told me, when you said you only play one character) and leaving any site where you don't get what you want, you are assuring you never will.

I also don't dig for golds or gold analogs. I was also complaining about 'low rankers' due to the fact that I had been dished out an extremely bad experience with a Weyr where all they gave my characters were low ranked dragons. Generally, I have no issue with that. Except in this instance it was about favoritism. I was given no opportunity to grow at all. Low ranks were used as a punishment tool for those members who admins saw as extra bodies or weren't their friends.
For the record, I was not expecting Iiateth to impress my character either.

And you do want golds. Cite trauma all you like, but there you go. The first thing you did upon arriving at our site was ask for a gold firelizard. Which was fine, because we were giving them away like candy.
But the second thing you did was say that they shouldn't be available to anyone else. Which is not fine, because candy is meant to be shared.
Oh, and if that 'super sparkly purple' comment is also a dig at our site? Purples are like rats on Wardens. They're as common as greens, but they eat too much and get too big. No one got one because they were special, the multiple people who got them (not just the lord holder's daughter) go them because there were lots of them to get.
If you're complaining about another sparkly purple, than I shall leave that to the Weyr in question to address.

I am sorry, but I do not remember stating the comment where gold firelizards should not be allowed to go to anybody else. However when I asked about the 'lizards I was polite about it, understanding if the application I put in for it would be rejected. While golds might be nice to play with, I do enjoy diversity. I'll state it again, I'm not a shiny hunter.
And no, the purple comment wasn't about Wardens, but another Weyr.

Maybe you should start reading them before you get upset over a dragon not fitting the Candidate.

No one has to let you grow. It doesn't matter what kind of dragon you've been given, leavings or fodder or however you want to call it, but I'm pretty sure it was mostly just dragons that you personally didn't want. Regardless of the circumstances, the quality of the dragons, or their match-ups, it's always an opportunity to grow.
Get a dragon that's a runt? Well, fine, then they start resenting how everyone looks at them like a runt and decides to overcome all that and be the best dragon in the Weyr, shard it all! Everyone's opinions can to go the Red Star because they're fantastic, right Mine? Depending on the rider, that can then turn into exasperation, shared ambition, bolstered confidence, embarrassment, you name it. Then you've got a mismatched pair that no one else gets, but every once in a while, they share a moment where everyone can see they're perfect for each other.
Tada. A "fodder" dragon turned into an amazing character pair.
I hate listening to all the tripe about colors. That's why when I had two Weyrs, and one of them talked about color while the other didn't, I left that one and stuck with the one that was more interested in plots, character development, and player involvement, and to the Red Star with the other one, their clique, and the shiny hunters. No one makes you stay at sites that have favoritism or write shoddy dragons. Leave and find a new one.
Or, start your own where you can be the one dishing out favoritism and giving yourself all the golds and rainbows you want. That's what all the other selfish shiny hunters do. Why did you think there were so many sites like that?

You got a dragon that freaks your character out? hat's kinda awesome, I can think of six dozen ways that I could play that and have it be both dramatic in the good way and interesting for fellow players and readers. Seriously, you could have used the fear as a reason to actually get to know the Weyrleaders and take your anon rider to a recognized character. Seriously, why the hell do you care about what rank you are? It's about the story, not the bells and whistles.
