Excuse Me, Mr. OOC Man

So I GM an RP forum, and run a few characters in it myself. I've been fortunate enough to have a forum full of excellent RPers and open-minded people, save for a few, and they don't get to be so bad, considering what other sucks are out there on the internet.

However, the few people that DO cause suckage don't always do so in character.

TL;DR, apparently if characters are gay it is bad shojou yaoi, no matter how hard the authors have worked to make the relationship and characters realistic )

douche canoe capsized, dumbass, rage quit

Wait, I'm confused.

Shoujou = Yuri / femalexfemale
Shounen = Yaoi / malexmale

What does shoujou have anything to do with anything?

Really, they just mean 'girl' and 'boy' respectively. 'Shoujo' manga are comics that appeal to girls, etc.

I think OP is trying to denounce the sort of yaoi that's meant to stereotypically appeal to girls (those rife with uke/whatever-that-other-word-is cliches, for example), but I'm not entirely clear on that.

I think magneticdeath may have been thinking of "shoujou ai"/"shounen ai" which would fit the equations magneticdeath used. But for the terms without the "ai," yeah, you've pretty much got it.

Shojo is a genre geared towards females. Think Fruits Basket or Sailor Moon. Pretty, girly, and soft.

Shonen means boy, and is geared towards males. Think Dragonball Z or Naruto. Sharper lines, lots of violence, etc.

I'm not getting that from this conversation at all. It's possible, but really? It comes off really douchey.

You don't joke like that unless you know the other person knows better. It's something you can do with friends, but not with strangers or distant acquaintances. So even on the off chance he was joking, he's still being a douche about it.

Good point, though.
